Lucille Belluci takes the best (and sometimes the worst) of her life experiences in each of the countries where she has lived, and makes books out of them. In Shanghai she hadn't a clue about life except that bombs and guns make you feel bad. In Italy she learned most of the essentials. In America she felt mostly good; a decent paycheck can do that. Then she was dragged, kicking and screaming, by her husband Renato to Brazil, where he was assigned to build a dam.
After a couple of years in Rio de Janeiro, life turned out to be pretty darn good. She had become an Overseas Corporate Wife! Eschewing golf and bridge, she crashed The Little Theater and launched an unpaid singing career. There is nothing like a terrified husband suffering while his wife is performing. Back in California, Lucille did a few more gigs, the last of which was to sing at a friend's wedding. Six months later, the groom died. This is not funny. Lucille was not invited to her friend's next wedding.
Lucille, Pinky the cat, and assorted loaner cats are now ensconced -- mostly happily -- in the Oakland hills.
